DNA Analysis Platforms:

Metabiomics LLC provides fast, affordable, and accurate sequencing for clinical research, small experiments or  high throughput research, exploration, and metagenomic discovery projects.

DNA Extraction

• Extract DNA from environmental, clinical, and laboratory samples.
• Environmental samples include soil, freshwater and oceans sediments, freshwater and oceans water, and filters used to collect particulates from air.
• Clinical samples include tissue biopsies, blood, hair, bone, and urine.
• Laboratory samples include bacterial and cell cultures. Sample size is up to 500µl and DNA yield varies with sample type and amount. DNA sample (50µl) stored in either 500µl screw cap tubes, 8-well strips, or 96 well plates.

Cloning a PCR Product

• Products can be supplied by customer or produced from DNA supplied by customer.
• PCR primers can be supplied by customer or order as an additional service.
• PCR products with additional small molecular weight components can be cleaned as an additional service before cloning.
• Typical deliverable is 300 – 400 clones arrayed in a 96 well plate which is sufficient to detect a microorganism making up about 1% of a microbial community.

PCR and Sequencing Clones or Genes

• PCR products will be sequenced on either a ABI3130 or a SCE9610 capillary fluorescent sequencer. Customer provides DNA template and PCR primers.
• Read lengths of 600 bp obtained for capillary instrument. Data sent electronically to customer.

Sequencing PCR and Plasmid Templates

• PCR products or plasmid prepared by customer will be sequenced on either a ABI3130 or a SCE9610 capillary fluorescent sequencer.
• Read lengths of 600 bp obtained for capillary instrument. Data sent electronically to customer.

DNA Fingerprinting

Various forms of DNA fingerprinting will be performed on DNA samples submitted by the customer. Techniques include:

• Amplicon Length Heterogeneity PCR Fingerprinting (LH-PCR)
• Microsatellite analysis
• Temperature Gradient Capillary Electrophoresis (TGCE)

DNA Processing and Analysis

• ON-Line LIMS submission and tracking of samples
• Sequence assembly of fragments into contigs.
• Clustalw assembly of consensus data and phylogenetic tree analysis.
• Blast Analysis Report
• SNP Analysis Report
• Phylogenetic Analysis
